Abstract

The popularity of mobile application market is gaining momentum with the increasing sale of smartphones and portable devices. A side effect from the explosive increase in mobile applications is the difficulty for consumers to identify applications that are relevant to their context. Most users do not utilize every downloaded applications on a regularly basis. We identify this trend as a fairly common usage pattern in the mobile domain and propose using location information to assist in retrieving context relevant application services. Our proposal is a mobile application distribution system that utilizes physical space as the main driver for user-application interaction. This is achieved through location triggered intents to access an application cloud linked recommender.
