A Simple Dynamic Spectrum Access Algorithm for the IEEE 802.22 Standard

Abstract

This paper presents a brief description of the WRAN standard and some simulation results of dynamic spectrum access algorithms applied in a typical 802.22 environment, taking into account not only the digital television network operation as a licensed service, but also PHY WRAN parameters like adaptive modulation and coding. The simulations are based on opportunistic access schemes proposed by H. Zheng and C. Peng applying basic optimization rules. Significant improvement in the performance of algorithms can be reached introducing simple changes in their execution sequences.
