Optimal control, sufficient conditions for weak minima, singularity,equality constraints
This paper illustrates, by means of two examples, how a recently developed sufficiency theorem for weak minima of optimal control problems involving equality constraints in the control functions can be applied. The verification technique on which the theorem is based does not require the standard assumption of nonsingularity of the process in consideration and, therefore, it can be applied to singular processes. We provide an example of a singular process which is a strict weak minimum of the problem in hand, as well as an application to a model for a one sector economy which takes into account population growth.
