Abstract

Mobile devices play instrumental roles in our daily lives. Researchers have proposed content adaptation approaches to present content in formats suitable for mobile devices. However, the existing approaches lack "intelligence". They only adapt content format to fit small screens. In this paper, we present a novel proxy-based content adaptation system for mobile devices. A greedy algorithm and a weighted link graph are proposed to perform intelligent content adaptation for mobile devices. WCCP (Web Cache Communication Protocol) is used to transparently intercept and forward HTTP requests to a proxy server for content adaptation. Our approach can improve mobile user experience because it can minimize mobile users' clicking and scrolling efforts.
