Connectivity maintenance, Topology control, Dynamic sensor network, Area coverage
Connectivity is a crucial aspect for networked sensors sys tems. It is necessary to exchange data, to perform dis tributed elaborations, to manage coordination, cooperation and several other important operations. For classical static sensor networks, connectivity can be achieved deploying nodes in a suitable manner or controlling communication power. For a dynamic sensor network the problem is more challenging, because network topology changes time after time while sensors move. As a consequence, connectivity maintenance strongly affects the motion coordination prob lem. In this paper a distributed solution to the connectivity maintenance problem is given for dynamic networks. The proposed approach does not impose a fixed network. Re sults of some simulations for the proposed method applied to dynamic area coverage tasks are presented.
