Abstract

This contribution describes a 77-GHz frequency modulated continuous wave (FMCW) radar system that is completely based on a Silicon-Germanium (SiGe) chipset. It consists of a 77-GHz VCO, a 77-GHz receive mixer and a 19-GHz down-converter for use in an offset-loop synthesizer. A 4×4 patch array antenna is used for the bistatic prototype system on both the transmit and receive side. The performance of the radar system is characterized by the standard deviation of the range estimates acquired in statistical measurements.
