Many useful products for robot research work have already been developed, for example, motor control units, integrated interface boards oriented to robot development, and so on. Not only electrical equipment but also some mobile units have been developed. However, most of the mobile units are driven with wheels, and the crawler system is very rare. We usually use a hobby tank for crawler system research work. I have developed a track mobile unit that is originally designed and useful for research work. Moreover I have developed another type that is useful for the practical development. Both types are designed based on the same track mechanism named “FRIGO”. First, I explain the outline of the crawler systems, then introduce some applications of the system for actual activities.
