Self-Configuration, Self-Adapting, Adjusted sensing radius 1
In a long term, the energy consumption of the sensor node could be greatly effected by the sensing range. This paper proposed to dynamically adjust the sensing radii such that the global coverage of the whole detecting area is not changed, but locally the sensing range of each sensor could be minimized. Our solution minimizes energy consumption and extends the lifetime of the sensor network while adjusting the sensing radius of each sensor node. To save energy, our simulation shows about 80 percent of sensor nodes could reduce its sensing radius. And further, 30 percent among them could switch from active mode to sleep mode.
