Abstract

In this paper, we describe the hardware and software we developed to control one or more Robosapiens from a single computer or other suitable microprocessor device and how we are using these affordable bi-ped robots in education and entertainment. We also describe a number of classes of other practical applications for these robots and include details of work in progress and our plans for further work. We also consider how this work relates to work carried out in other parts of the world including the laboratories of major corporations such as Intel and Motorola with respect to projects such as those aimed at helping the elderly to live independently for longer. Our work is unique in that we are targeting the use of very affordable robots that can be programmed to do a range of tasks.
