Abstract

In this study, we employ a fingertip-shadow to build an interface system with one camera, which provides click, double-click, and drag. When we touch a screen in front of a projector, the fingertip-shadow is occluded by the finger tip itself. Then it will be visible when the fingertip leaves the screen. That is, the difference between those shapes of fingertip-shadow could be available to determine if a fin gertip has touched a screen. Our system traces a user’s fingertip-shadow to recognize touching and releasing. And also it is applied to two applications, a map viewer and common Windows application MS Paint.
