MC-CDMA, Taguchi method, multi-user detector, Genetic algorithm
We investigate the application of Taguchi-Genetic algorithm (TGA) to the problem of multiuser detection in multi-carrier code division multiple access (MC-CDMA) systems. The technique is the Taguchi-genetic algorithm implementation of optimal multi-user detection (OMD) using a new concept for the search space to process and improve the outputs of matched filters in terms of suppression of multiple access interference (MAI) and inter-symbol interference (ISI) in a MC-CDMA system. The TGA combines the traditional genetic algorithm, which has powerful global exploration capability, with the Taguchi method, which can search for the systematical optimal operating parameters in the GA such that efficiency of the GA can be promoted. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm outperforms most previously proposed multi-user detection schemes, and can achieve near-optimal performance with very low complexity.
