The purpose of this paper is to provide an analytical study and a bit-error-rate (BER) analysis of advanced demodulation technique which could be applied to an HSDPA receiver with STTD mode antenna diversity. A significant complexity reduction with respect to traditional equalizers will be achieved thanks to frequency domain block processing. After a deep analytical description of this equalization technique, where we derive the formulation of the equalizer coefficients, a performance analysis is done for comparing single carrier chip level equalization scheme with STTD mode among the generic Rake receiver.
