Abstract

This paper presents a summary of the outcomes of the evaluation of a learning repository project funded by the Australian Government which commenced in early 2001. The project brought together a consortium of information technology and computer science faculties and schools in three established Australian universities located in three Australian states. Although design of the repository was an integral element of the project, this paper describes some of the key outcomes of the evaluation of the completed system. This is not limited to a description of user reactions to design features, but describes a number of organisational and cultural constraints that were uncovered. Understanding of these constraints and their implications will be important if learning repository approaches are to be established in tertiary organisations.
