Abstract

The coefficients of a SISO compensator for constant set point regulation in nth -order LTI systems are synthesized using state-space methods without the need for observers so that deadbeat behavior is achieved. The compensator generates a control sequence that steers the error to zero in precisely n sampling steps. For second order systems the compensator can be implemented as a traditional PI-Lead or PID controller. For higher order systems, the second-order controller works as a starting point with ad ditional tuning done if needed. Three computer-simulated examples are included to illustrate the results.
