Abstract

This study concerns electrical converters based on structures using bi-directional power switches. These converters may perform any kind of conversion with an appropriate switch control. Unfortunately, each type of conversion requires its own conventional control strategy and regulation method. This paper presents a new unified strategy of control and regulation that applies to any kind of conversion. The configuration software is executed on a PC in order to set the configuration parameters. These parameters are transmitted via a serial connection to the control board based on micro-controller design. The PC is disconnected and the control board performs the converter control and regulation. The presented technique provides simple and cost effective design of power converters using bi-directional switching modules.
