Abstract

Lightpath restoration is an effective approach to guaranteeing a certain degree of survivability in WDM optical networks. Active restoration (AR) algorithm is a lightpath restoration scheme proposed recently [7]. In this paper, we extend our study on AR in terms of the performance analysis. In particular, an analytical model of restoration probability is developed. Based on the new model, the effects of wavelength channels availability and the ability of wavelength converters upon restoration probability can be investigated. Our model correctly predicts unobvious qualitative behavior demonstrated by simulations in [7].
