Abstract

Optical time division multiplexing (OTDM) allows mul tiple traffic streams to share the bandwidth of a wave length efficiently. In this paper, we present a new analyti cal model, based on the inclusion-exclusion principle from combinatorics, for evaluating the blocking performance of time-space switched optical networks with fixed routing and random wavelength/timeslot assignment. This model can be used to analyze networks with arbitrary topologies and traffic patterns. The accuracy of the proposed analyti cal model is validated through simulations.
