Landmines are detrimental to the lives of innocent people and maim several thousands every year. It drastically affects the economic growth of the affected region. This paper addresses the problems posed by the landmines and provides a cost effective solution for detecting landmines using acoustic waves. This method exploits the acoustic resonance of a buried material and identifies the mine from the clutter with its unique acoustic signature. A comparison is made with the current demining solutions and the effectiveness of this technique is justified with the experimental results.
