Abstract

The aim of this work was to develop a PC based data acquisition and signal processing system to measure the baroreceptor sensitivity. As a sample study, invasive Blood Pressure (BP) and Electrocardiogram (ECG) signals had been acquired continuously in real time during phenylephrine injection, with a desktop PC. The system was tested on 10 patients. Using the developed system and recorded data, beat to beat heart rate interval (RR) and beat to beat maximum blood pressure amplitude (SP), were extracted. The region, where both signals change simultaneously, was analyzed statistically and linear regression analysis was applied to measure the Baroreceptor Sensitivity (BRS).
