Abstract

The growth of online computer-based tutoring systems requires a new design paradigm for effective training and learning. In this environment, the number and the distribution of the tutoring systems make it difficult to support users for effective training and learning based on their own time and pace. Toward this end, this paper proposes multi-agent system architecture for cooperative distributed tutoring systems. The architecture consists of several interface agents. The agents act as mediators between the learners and the tutoring system. The interface agents interact with the learners and tutoring system to provide them with the set of materials that match their performance from distributed tutoring systems. The agents have a problem solving capability to make changes to the tutoring material schedule. A prototype of this system is implemented using IBM Agent Building and Learning Environment.
