Abstract

Nano–grid (n-grid) is likely to become one of the smart approaches to realise a carbon-free, decentralized power generation system satisfying the load demands of small scale buildings of the future. This article presents the dynamic analysis of a cascaded Proportional Integral- Artificial Neural Fuzzy Inference System (PI-ANFIS) controlled nano-grid framework with solar photovoltaic (SPV) and battery as energy source elements connected in parallel with high gain primitive boost converter to power constant voltage LED loads. SPV is a non-linear system with a fluctuating load profile for climatic dynamics in irradiance and temperature. The simulation results show that the proposed PI-ANFIS has an instant zero time recovery to steady-state after the irradiance disturbance given to the SPV source as a physical variable signal which is a clear indication of the superior dynamics of the hybrid combination of the controller.
