OPERATION AND CONTROL OF MODULAR DC TRANSFORMER APPLIED TO ENERGY INTERNET

Abstract

Bidirectional direct current (DC)-DC converter has a broad appli- cation prospect in the interconnection of high-voltage and high- power DC power grid, which is helpful to promote the integrated development of DC power grid. Compared with the direct series bidirectional active bridge and the modular series bidirectional ac- tive bridge, the modular multilevel converter (MMC) DC solid-state transformer has advantages in modularity, redundancy, expansibility, concentrated capacitance on the common DC side, and many other aspects. This paper proposes and analyses the working principle of MMC DC solid-state transformer and further designs and analyses the controller of MMC DC solid-state transformer in various working modes. Finally, the characteristics of the controller are veriļ¬ed by MATLAB simulation.
