Abstract

This paper proposes a simulation model for describing the behaviours of the interturn short fault in the micro direct-current motors (MDCMs). The equivalent circuit for the interturn short fault is first carried out. According to the possible fault influences, the explicit expressions of interturn short-circuit current, phase voltages and electromagnetic torque are then derived. A simulation model for the interturn short fault is proposed employing the full- bridge driving method and MATLAB/Simulink. Both simulation results and experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of the model for predicting the interturn short-circuit behaviours in the MDCMs.
