Abstract

Conventional pulse width modulated (PWM) converters have lim- ited applications at higher frequency values. Switching losses and stresses are high. Quasi-resonant DC–DC converters can solve these problems. The quasi-resonant DC–DC converters work on either zero voltage or zero current switching concepts. They switched their states when either the voltage or the current is zero. Using bond graphs, a boost zero current switching (ZCS) quasi-resonant DC– DC power converter is modelled. The steady-state, large-signal and small-signal AC bond graph models of the converter are developed. The developed model is simulated in MATLAB/SIMULINK. The simulated results of the developed bond graph model are compared with the PSIM simulated results of the circuit model and experi- mental results. The efficiency and other performance parameters of the boost zero current switching (ZCS) quasi-resonant DC–DC power converter are compared experimentally with those of the PWM boost converter.
