Abstract

This paper presents a three-phase single-stage ternary cascaded nine-level converter-based solar photovoltaic (PV) grid-tied system operating at 50 Hz switching frequency with selective harmonic elimination (SHE)-based control. Using SHE method, the harmonic order 5th, 7th, 9th and 11th are eliminated. With application of SHE scheme with decoupled current controller, the proposed ternary cascaded nine-level converter-based PV system has less distortion and low switching losses. The performance of a ternary cascaded nine-level–based PV grid integrated system is modelled in the MATLAB/Simulink and demonstrated through hardware in loop developed in the laboratory.
