Abstract

On the basis of marine diesel engine generator sets model, an improved model-free adaptive control (IMFAC) algorithm is pro- posed for marine generator excitation control. The comparison study of the proposed IMFAC, model-free adaptive control (MFAC) and PID (Proportion–Integration–Differentiation) control is conducted for the shipboard power system that suffers measurement data distortion and load change disturbance. The simulation results for the system with IMFAC algorithm have shown that the response sensitivity is improved compared with the PID control, and make the system have better rapidity. Compared with MFAC, the maximum dynamic response deviation can be reduced greatly and the dynamic process accuracy can also be improved. Furthermore, the IMFAC is applied to the single-phase-to-ground fault. And the simulation experiments indicate that the proposed IMFAC algorithm has fault tolerance capacity.
