Abstract

This paper jointly investigates the problem of duty cycle adjustment and the slot allocation in the time division multiple access (TDMA)-based wireless sensor network systems. In this proposed Markov Fuzzy Medium Access Control (MaFuMAC) protocol, the duty cycles of the nodes are adjusted by the hidden Markov model, and the slots in the TDMA channel are assigned to the nodes in the cluster, based on the fuzzy slot priority (FSP) function. The FSP function is computed by using the parameters such as weighting function, queue length and delay factor of the individual nodes for achieving the conflict-free scheduling. The simulation results of the proposed approach significantly improve the life time of the nodes in the network with less energy utilization and delay.
