Abstract

The interline power flow controller (IPFC) can optimize the use of transmission facilities under the concept of a flexible alternative current transmission systems (FACTS). The IPFC employs two or more voltage source converters (VSCs) with a common DC-link. Each VSC can provide series compensation for the selected line of the transmission system: master line or slave line. The IPFC may be applied for steady-state power flow and voltage control as well as for mastering transient phenomena like transient stability margin enhancement or power oscillations damping. This paper presents an IPFC using fuzzy logic control (FLC) to study the power flow of 3 machine–9 bus system. The results without and with IPFC using FLC are analysed to demonstrate the good performance of the used approach.
