Abstract

A switched reluctance integrated starter/generator system (ISG) has been designed. First the hardware circuits comprised of power converter, drive amplifier circuit and the controller have been integrated and designed. A novel power converter has been put forward which could be controlled to operation in electric and power generation by the switch. Several intelligent control methods have been introduced in the system. The self-adaptive initial duty cycle of pulse width modulation (PWM) estimation by fuzzy controller is raised first to optimize the starting performance. The constant acceleration controller is used to keep start smooth and the internal model-fuzzy control strategy is used to get a better generation capacity. For the intensive study, the switched reluctance ISG system simulation model and experiment platform have been built. The start, brake, assistance power and the generation experiments have been finished at different conditions based on the proposed control strategies. In terms of the experiment system, the quick start, quick voltage establishing, preferable robustness and small voltage fluctuation have been obtained. Therefore, the design and the control strategy of the system meet the start and generation demand of current vehicles.
