Cell culture, micro actuator, scaffold, and electrical stimulation
Mouse muscle cells have been cultured to form micro tubes, which would be developed to a new lightweight actuator controlled by an electrical pulse with high efficiency. Environment of muscle cell culture for a micro actuator has been designed with morphology of a scaffold, and with magnetic and electric fields in vitro. The repetitive contraction of the cultured muscle tubes has been controlled with frequency and voltage of electric pulses. The designed tube of cultured muscle cells has the possibility to realize an efficient light micro-actuator, which can be applied to a micro actuator for a micro machine or prosthesis of biological muscles.
