Abstract

Compared with current nine-area control method, this paper presents a practical and independent voltage control method for a distribution substation based on the real-time voltage computation and analysis. The real measured data show that the real-time voltage control should adopt load model with voltage characteristics. This paper deduces the load model in which the characteristic parameters are computed through the measured voltage and power. A practical example is introduced to demonstrate the simplified method for a grid model. Since the impedance of the high-voltage grid is much smaller than the impedance of the distribution transformer, it can take the measured voltage value at the high-voltage bus as the reference for the voltage regulation calculation of the distribution substation. The proposed method does not need the information at the remote end. Consequently, the voltage control system is very simple and practical.
