Abstract

In industry, structured lighting is required. Multielement LED light source is best suited for such applications. By adjusting geometrical and optical parameters of LED-sources required illuminance level can be achieved with minimum dark spots and hot spots. Another advantage of this light source is that by switching on–off some of the LEDs, selected portion of target surface can be illuminated. This paper has discussed and optimized multielement ring LED source for the application of printed circuit board (PCB) inspection for reduced dark spots and hot spots. It also explains the concept of illumination of selected portion of PCB so that only the components under focus can be inspected.
