Abstract

This article presents mathematical modelling and simulation of advanced control techniques of AC drive with matrix converter using MATLAB/SIMULINK. The simulation of mathematical model-based system requires very less computation time as compared to simulation of Simulink blocks-based system. There exists a great difficulty in controlling the variables with sinusoidal references in classical AC drives control. The vector control, an advanced control technique, overcomes the above drawback and thus improves the overall effectiveness of the AC drives and leads to a high dynamic performance in terms of response times and power conversion. The induction generator operation of induction motor above synchronous speed is also verified, and hence the drive is suitable for wind energy conversion system. These different performance aspects are analyzed by MATLAB/SIMULINK simulation. All the necessary equations were written in m-file and run before simulating the model file to load parameters and initial conditions.
