Abstract

This paper introduces an on-demand multipath ad hoc network rout- ing protocol called “predicted multipath routing protocol (PMP) that concerns about availability and throughput of result path set. The protocol enables communication hosts in the network to build a set of robust and high performance paths so that they can use the best performance path as a primary path and the others as backup paths. To measure the availability and efficiency of a path, we proposed two measurements. The first measurement is the degree of availability (DA) that anticipates the future survival of a path. It basically predicted the future signal strength of each pair of nodes using regression analysis. The second measurement that measures path efficiency is called “estimated path throughput value (ETV) . The ETV relies on the packet loss ratio of link between each pair of nodes.
