This work presents an approach to the simulation of time-dependent systems such as software, manufacturing or business processes. We address the problem of controlling the simulation while guaranteeing simulation soundness against expected timing requirements. We propose strategies to automatically control the selection of the model aspects to be simulated according to some simulation goal. The soundness of the simulation is obtained by construction, and is ensured by the execution model design, computed here from the system descriptive model.
