Abstract

A closed loop speed control scheme for a Permanent Magnet Brushless DC (PMBLDC) motor is implemented using a single current sensor without position and speed sensors. The rotor position is derived from the back emf of the motor and this is used for estimating the rotor speed. The sensorless drive system is operated in forward and reverse direction of rotation. The DSP-based closed loop speed control of the PMBLDC drive system is used for derivation of position, speed, current sensing, speed controller and PWM generation. The DC link current is sensed for the feedback, which helps in reducing the requirement of current sensors and thereby reduces the overall cost of the drive system.
