Abstract

In a control system, modelling errors, norm-bounded uncertainties, and control input saturation are unavoidable. Control input saturation in the system can lead to severe transient oscillations and a large overshoot. This effect is caused by inappropriate plant states, and is therefore referred to as “plant windup. We propose an adaptive control system in which the gain of a proportional controller is dynamically tuned by a fuzzy PD system. The range of the output of universal discourse of the fuzzy PD system is designed based on the circle criterion to guarantee the stability of the having input saturation systems. The simulation results demonstrate the successful tracking performance and effectiveness of the proposed method.
