Abstract

Sectionalizers and tie points can be employed for service reliability enhancement in primary distribution systems. In this paper an efficient method for simultaneous allocation of sectionalizers and tie points is presented. Costs of switches, tie lines and outage costs are considered in objective function. Also practical limitation in restriction of available budget for installation of switching devices is considered. Genetic algorithm is used for optimization. Effectiveness of the proposed approach is shown by various application studies on a distribution system with satisfactory results.
