Abstract

This article develops a new optimization strategy of reactive power sources based, first, on an optimal movement of existing reactive sources. A second phase concerns an optimal investment, and a third phase is a combination of the two previous phases. The formulation of the global problem leads to a constrained nonlinear one, which necessitates nonlinear programming solution methods. In this study, the projected and augmented Lagrangian method is used in accordance with the reduced gradient and the DFP methods.
