Abstract

AC/DC converters generate current harmonics in power systems. Detailed analysis of current harmonics produced by twelve-pulse ac/dc converters under non-ideal operating conditions can be quite time consuming. A simple analytical model is proposed to evaluate current harmonics produced by twelve-pulse ac/dc thyristor converters under unbalanced supply voltage. Simplified models of ac current harmonics amplitudes and phase angles are derived as a function of the complex voltage unbalanced factor. Simulation results are presented in order to confirm the validity of the proposed analytical model.
