Abstract

The Park Brake lever production is automated with the help of part feeders, which is an asymmetric component at the assembly of drum brakes. The accurate position for the Park Brake lever is found with the help of drop test and static simulation. Perfection is attained by analysing the correlation between the experimental data and simulation. 3D simulation consisting of the detailed part geometry is obtained using the software. Suitable parameters for the feed are calculated with the help of dynamic simulation software that helped to obtain a frequency range through vibration analysis. The calculated Vibrating frequency helps in obtaining acceleration and time taken for the trap to reach the exit. Using design of experiments (DOE) and linear regression model, optimized parameters can be predicted for vibrating frequency and trap angle against the part motion time parameter of the part in the trap. The experimental test data set is developed by means of factorial design and Taguchi design. Regression model is a statistical measure that attempts to determine the strength of the relationship between trap angle and frequency of vibration. The DOE model and regression analysis are obtained using software validating the experimental results.
