Smart grid simulator, household profile, real-world model, demand side management, modelling
The inevitable challenges in both hardware and software infrastructures facing the traditional power grid leave no choice but to upgrade to smart grid. To test and validate new smart grid concepts and approaches, simulation becomes a vital tool for future grid research. Thereby, the authors have analysed, designed, and built a simulator called smart grid simulator (SGS), which provides real grid elements behaviour, obtaining results near the real-world model. The aim of this paper is first to present the SGS’s architecture, as well as its main elements. Then, validate our simulator through the UK households case study. As a result of this work, better matching between simulated results and real data is achieved, and SGS’s forecasting ability is approved.
