Abstract

Transmission network expansion planning (TNEP) problems have been solved by adopting different approaches. However, in all of them, the effect of demand response (DR) programs on the static- TNEP (STNEP) problem has not been studied properly. Implementation of gbest-guided artificial bee colony (GABC) algorithm for solving the STNEP problem with different DR programs to minimize the total cost is not reported yet in the literature. Therefore, it is consider in this paper as objective function and the GABC optimization technique has been implemented because of its effectiveness. Also, the main objective of this study is to explore the impact of both incentive-based and price-based DR program on the STNEP. The IEEE 24-bus system is modified and studied. Numerical examples are presented and are compared with other optimization techniques reported in the literature. Numerical results show that the proposed approach has a measurable contribution to the field of TNEP.
