Abstract

This paper numerically studies aggregate demand response by real-time pricing (RTP). The paper regards RTP as a feedback control system composed of the actual total electric consumption (an output signal), the desired total electric consumption (a reference signal), and electric price (an input signal). The paper proposes how to decide electric price by a proportional-integral (PI) controller form. The PI controller is defined from an error between the actual and the desired total electric consumption in a community. Simulation results demonstrate that if we can choose total electric consumption from a broad range by controlling electric price, the PI controller effectively works for RTP.
