Abstract

The authors studied a hybrid power systems containing diesel and wind generation. Basing on modular simulator RPM-SIM, relevant models were set up, and a simulation of a small isolated hybrid wind power system was performed. The impact of the transmission line length and rated power of the diesel engine on the stability of such system, were the subjects of investigation. The dynamic analysis showed that the frequency and voltage dips of such system may appear and frequency performance may be lost during short circuit fault period. At last, the BESS power-frequency characteristic curve is introduced, and then we improve frequency performance by adding battery energy storage system into the previous system.
