UHV transmission lines, GNSS, radio interference, electromagnetic scattering
Focusing on the electromagnetic compatibility dilemma between increasingly intensive high-voltage power grids and the use of global navigation satellite systems (GNSS) in China, this paper reviews the interference mechanism of high voltage transmission line first. A real on-site GNSS observation test was conducted under 1000 kV Southeast Shanxi-Nanyang-Jinmen transmission lines, the first operational UHV AC Transmission Demonstration Project in China. 20 GNSS stations were configured and a large volume of data were acquired and processed under live and offline situations. The test results indicated that both live and offline GNSS coordinates were in consistency with high positioning precisions and unlikely effected by UHV AC transmission line. Correlation between the distances of GNSS receivers and the electromagnetic interference of the UHV AC transmission line was unfound.
