Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) are highly promising tools in the advanced automation of chemical analysis processes. In this work we propose the development and implementation of a WSN for the continuous on-site monitoring of the content of nitrates in the River Turia (Valencia, east of Spain). A basic “chemical-applied” description of WSN is followed by the results obtained using the proposed technology as well as those provided by suitable reference methods, their correlation being commented along with the corresponding conclusions.
