Transmitting continuous data streams from mobile users is a challenge, as network availability varies depending on position and contention among mobile users. We study medical tele-monitoring applications where the advancement of quality in medical care makes efforts into improving the infrastructure worth-while. As a field study, we have tested transmission of electrocardiogram (ECG) data at the Berlin Marathon 2011. Earlier studies have already demonstrated the feasibility of such a setup; we provide detailed measurements and an analysis of connectivity issues that we discovered in our study.
