Abstract

Power systems have elements able to help in controlling a voltage profile and to handle reactive power. Based on an evolutionary algorithm, it is possible to determine the appropriate values for such elements in order to operate within an optimal condition. The optimization problem formulated in this paper is solved by the NSGA-II evolutionary algorithm, which is able to handle multiobjective formulations, showing reliable results on a realistic power system.
