This paper presents a new method for shadow removal of moving vehicle based on graph cut and image processing. An energy minimization representing the optimal segmentation is obtained via max flow (min cut). A novel and direct way is proposed to successfully remove the shadow of moving vehicle and other clutters by considering space characteristic of vehicle shadow and utilizing complementary information from two segmentations. The significant and reasonable results are also obtained. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method is better and more adaptable to the shadow removal of moving vehicle, especially suitable for shadows removal when multiple vehicles existing.
